To The Reader PDF Print Version Dear Reader, God has given us a mind. We must use it to the best of our ability in the search for the Truth. It is impossible to have ‘blind faith’ in the Truth. You cannot have ‘blind faith’ and ‘the Truth’ at the same time. One excludes the other. You may be a person who does not accept the Bible as the only true book of God. You may believe in some other holy book. In the pages that follow, I shall appeal to your mind without quoting from the Bible. Let your mind ponder over the things written. Apply them to your life. Let them search your conscience. At the end of this book are listed relevant Bible references from which come the substance of these pages. I have not invented the things here written. While it is important to use our mind, we must also realise that spiritual things can only be perceived spiritually. To measure temperature, we must use a thermometer, not a piece of wood. To taste the sweetness of sugar, we must use our tongue, not our fingers. As we turn to the following pages, let us pray that God will give us spiritual understanding. “O God, give me understanding of spiritual truths when I meet them. Amen*” *The word “Amen” means, “May it be so.” It expresses our earnestness and sincerity in the prayer. |
